How to build your growth command center
See step by step how to move growth out of scattered spreadsheets and build a command center that connects goals, channels, team and results in a single place.
1Start by defining what “growth” means for your company
Before talking about tools, you need to decide what growth means in practice:
- What are the 3–5 metrics that really matter?
E.g.: MQLs, SQLs, Recurring revenue, LTV, CAC, churn. - Who is responsible for growth?
Marketing? Sales? A dedicated team? - What is the average sales cycle?
This defines the time you need to test and learn.
2Get your house in order: goals, funnel and owners
Your command center needs to reflect a real funnel, not just a set of reports.
Map out the full funnel
Set goals per stage
- How many leads/month?
- Conversion rates between stages?
- Target average ticket?
Assign owners
- Who is accountable for demand generation?
- Who is accountable for qualification?
- Who is accountable for closing and expansion?
3Centralize the essential data (without trying to cover everything)
A common mistake is trying to put all existing data into the dashboard. The result: no one uses it. Start with 3 blocks:
1. Acquisition
- • Investment per channel (target vs. actual).
- • Leads generated per channel/campaign.
2. Conversion
- • Conversion rate per funnel stage.
- • Average sales cycle time.
3. Result
- • New revenue in the period.
- • Recurring revenue (MRR/ARR).
- • CAC and payback.
Only once this is running day to day is it worth adding more advanced layers (cohorts, LTV by segment, etc.).
4Create review routines – a dashboard without a ritual becomes decoration
A command center only works if it is connected to the management routine:
Weekly growth meeting (30–60 min)
Review the funnel and the main deviations. Decide on 1–3 actions for the week (tests, adjustments, campaigns).
Monthly retrospective meeting
Compare target vs. actual. Understand what worked and what didn't. Adjust goals or channels if needed.
The goal isn't to have “the perfect dashboard,” but to create a continuous cycle of responding to data.
